FULL DAY SCENIC BOAT AND FLOAT
Lake McDonald / Middle Fork of the Flathead River
Experience some of the most pristine waters on Earth on this full day scenic tour of Lake McDonald and the Middle Fork of the Flathead River. First you will make your way to our office where we will outfit you for a morning on the Middle Fork of the Flathead River. This majestic waterway forms the southern border of Glacier National Park. The float begins with a few miles of fantastic mountain views. Along this stretch of river we often see Eagles, Osprey, water ouzels, and wide variety of other birds. Occasionally we float by Black Bear, Whitetail Deer and Beaver.
The river then enters a gorgeous canyon with sheer rock walls and active cut -throat trout. This canyon is truly spectacular and can only be seen from a raft. On hot summer days this is the perfect place to take a refreshing dip in the crystal clear waters of the Middle Fork.
After the river float trip you will drive to a local West Glacier restaurant and cash in your voucher for a tasty lunch.
Your afternoon completes the experience with an hour-long boat ride on the historic DeSmet, the flagship of the Glacier Park Boat Company fleet. The captain provides a running commentary as you explore Lake McDonald and view the magnificent scenery of Glacier National Park.
This is a trip where we strongly recommend bringing a camera. You are welcome to bring your
own, however, waterproof cameras are available in our gift shop. Photographers of every skill level
will enjoy the opportunities provided by Mother Nature on this trip.
No experience is necessary for this trip. This package is ideal for families with small children or for anyone who would rather skip the whitewater, kickback and enjoy a slow and easy day in the Park. With advance notice we can accommodate most special needs or requests. Rain gear and fleece jackets are available for sale or rent at our office and are included when weather or river conditions require them. Aqua sox and eyeglass retainers are also available.
