Wilderness

The Wilderness section of The Middle Fork of the Flathead River is truly one of the most incredible sections of river on this planet.  Known to locals as Schafer Meadows, in reference to the grass landing strip that often marks the start of the trip.  The put in for this raft trip is accessed only by aircraft, horseback or a very long hike!

Trips up here are wilderness expedition style trips.  Fly in, raft out.  Surrounded by over 1.5 million acres of The Bob Marshall Wilderness, this trip is as wild as they come.  Typical conditions can be anywhere from class III to class V whitewater.  However, it is the remoteness of this stretch of river which makes the adventure one of a kind. Depending on the season this is usually five days of complete isolation rafting from Schafer Meadows (the Bob Marshall Wilderness air strip) to Essex, MT (a small village on the southern end of Glacier National Park).  Rafting and fishing the headwaters of one of the last remaining free flowing rivers in the world.  Scenery, great camps, better fishing and thirty miles of rafting in Montana’s wilderness make for this too be the trip of a lifetime.

Prices vary depending on the type of trip and the length of the trip based on the season.  Give us a call and we’d be happy to answer any questions or tell you more about this adventure. 406-387-9453
