History

Historic Photo by George Grant | Our roots go back to 1974 when George Mumalo founded
the first commercial rafting at Glacier Park. George
was a pioneer in the industry, and he had the honor of
taking then Vice President George Bush on a float trip
through Glaicer. George was a mentor and inspiration
to a number of our guides and managers.
In 1985, Bob Jordan , Peter Steele, and Bill Emge
purchased the company from George and changed the name
to Wild River Adventures. Our first office was located
behind the Belton railroad depot in West Glacier and
customers had to be highly motivated to find us.
Fortunately they were and we gradually saw our
customer base increase.
In 1993, the year Hollywood came to our river and filmed the River Wild, we moved to our present location on Highway 2 East. Our visibility improved dramatically and our numbers increased as well. At the end of the 1995 season, Peter sold his interest and went on to practice law here in the Flathead. In 2004, Bob bought out the remaining shares from Bill and now is the sole owner/operator of the company.
Over the years Wild River Adventures has taken thousands of satisfied customers down the Middle and North Forks of the Flathead River at Glacier National Park. In addition, we have branched out to provide horse/raft trips and are striving to become your one stop adventure outfitter here in Glacier Country. We feel blessed to assist our customers have the time of their lives during their visit to Glacier National Park
