Half Day Horseback Riding/Whitewater Rafting Trips in Glacier Park
Wild River Adventures is the only outfitter in the Glacier National Park area that can offer whitewater rafting and horseback riding with one stop convenience. These trips combine the best outdoor activities in Glacier Country into one full day of fun!
We have teamed up with Swan Mountain Outfitters in Glacier National Park to make these unique trips possible. Their horses are well trained and are experienced with riders of all ability levels. The wranglers at Swan Mountain Outfitters will lead your family on a two hour through the Apgar forest. Riders love the combination of cruising underneath the green canopy of a lodgepole forest while simultaneously getting great views of the Flathead River and the Oxbow of McDonald Creek. Keep your eyes out for wildlife such as black bear, deer, coyotes and beaver.
The ride finishes around 11:00, which gives you some time to grab a bite to eat and make your way back to Wild River Adventures in West Glacier. You will then return to Wild River Headquarters and join us for our 12:30 pm or 2 pm raft trip.
The fun will continue with a 3-4 hour Whitewater Raft Adventure. All of our trips begin with whitewater rafting instruction from our experienced guides. We are an industry leader and guarantee state of the art self-bailing rafts to insure a more comfortable ride.
After a few gentle miles, our river will narrow down and enter a beautiful canyon with fantastic rapids like Jaws, Pinball, and Screaming Right Turn. These are some of the best rapids in Montana and provide whitewater excitement all summer long. It's the perfect way to wash off some trail dust and escape from the afternoon heat!
No river or horseback experience is needed for this adventure. This stretch of river is suitable for children age 12 and over during our Spring Runoff season (May-June) and for all children age 7 and older during normal Summer Flows. Please note that there is a weight limit of 225 lbs. for the horse trips.
From May to September air temperatures in Glacier be able to vary from +40F to +90F. With the proper clothing rafting can be fun no matter what the weather brings. Wetsuits, rain gear, and fleece jackets are available for sale or rent at our office and are included when weather or river conditions require them. Eyeglass retainers and aqua sox are also available for sale. Lunch is NOT included.
